Bowling alley Parc Maasresidence Thorn

Improving acoustics for a bowling alley

Rest and relaxation while bowling

The brand new luxury villa park Parc Maasresidence Thorn, located in the most famous white town of Limburg, also has a bowling alley.

To ensure that guests can bowl here in a pleasant and relaxed way, it is necessary to properly regulate the different sounds.

Incatro was asked by Maasveste Bouw to tackle the acoustic problems and has installed several sound-absorbing plates that dampen the sound sufficiently.

Include acoustics in specifications drawing

Our acoustic consultants are always happy when an architect or construction company already includes acoustics in the design phase of a room or building.

For example, Bouwbedrijf Maasveste already approached us when the bowling alley was being finished. The advantage is that the acoustic solution can be integrated even more easily into the overall picture and that nothing needs to be adjusted afterwards.

Sound measurement

Our acoustic consultant has been on site and has carried out a reverberation measurement in 2 places. At the place where the public is located in the wide area and on the track itself. The measured times are 2.2 seconds and 1.9 seconds respectively.

Because this is a room with a combination function (catering and sport), somewhat higher reverberation times apply. The desired reverberation time for catering is normally 0.6 seconds. For sports halls, a reverberation time of between 1 and 1.5 seconds applies.

Cost-effective and aesthetically sound

Guest area
In the public area we had both side walls available for the addition of an absorbent surface. Here we advised to apply 4 ARTwalls with a total surface of approximately 18 m2. With this we achieve a reverberation time of approx. 1.3 seconds.

Bowling area
For the track section we also had the side walls available and the end wall. Here we advised to use INCAfelt.

The absorbent value (NRC 0.95) of INCAfelt is the same as the ARTwall, but the acoustic panel is not further finished. Since there will be no public, the finish is no problem. The black color of the INCAfelt plates fits well in the room. We have applied 23 plates of approx. 240 x 120 cm. This provides 66 square meters of absorption with a reverberation time of approximately 0.64 seconds.

This solution offers great results at low cost.
